Hello, my name is Hannes.

I am a bioinformatician, entrepreneur and software developer working at the intersection of biology, optimization and artificial intelligence.

Over the years, I have worked on problems ranging from combinatorial optimization and proteomics to biomarker development and machine learning. I like turning difficult problems into algorithms, software and, occasionally, companies.

I co-founded Signatope, a biotechnology company developing mass-spectrometry-based protein biomarkers, and founded DenkBox, where we build AI software and infrastructure.

This site is my personal collection of projects, publications and other things I find interesting. It is not really a blog, and some of the things here are considerably older than others.

Outside of science and software, I also make woodcuts and other prints.
